Maryaan (2013)  3.5/5.0

A recent flick by Dhanush, Parvathy , directed by Bharat Bala ( ad film maker) and music scored by A.R.Rehman. Its just a magnificent cast crew. Having a good crew  doesn't make any movie a good movie . Its how the best of the crew utilized by the director. 

Story in Short :

I don't need to narrate the story. Watch the trailer that it, the story is complete in that. 

O.K. still you don't understand here is the story line. A fisherman ( Dhanush ) falls in love with a girl ( after a long time) and leaves the country for her and gets into trouble . How he overcomes all that and get back to his own mother country and join hands with the girl is the story

Scenes ( I liked the most):

There are lot of scenes which I like  here is the list 

Hero starts falling in love. 

This old man in the boat tells that " இந்த கடலும் , காதலும் எத்தன முறை பார்த்தாலும் புதுசு தான் ." there in our hero gets into an argument and starts thinking about her . 

Proposal and acceptance:

For any one who wants to impress a girl they will be using their skills. Director has said this really well in this movie. The Hero is fisher man and the heroine is a good cook , he has couple of scenes to tell this to the audience. So what happens is that when he falls in love he gets her the big Fish  ( keeps it at her door step) and she cooks the same and gives it back to him . 

First Kiss :

The First Kiss , was really cool. I am not sure why I like it , is it because of the music or cinematography or the the artists them self i couldn't say but I liked it . Every one of us will or would have been through this moment, this scene reminds me that.

Separation :

The scene where they get separated ( 2 years to Africa), she keep crying . Dhanush console , give a big hug with a deep breath and says " அடுத்த முச்சு குள்ள நான் வந்துடுவேன் டி ". This is scene was really cool .

Survival :

The Mono acting of Dhanush and Jagan at Africa was good. They have tried their best , some place it might sound bit odd but still that scene is remarkable. 

Most of the people didn't like this movie. I feel the reason is the second half of the movie where Dhanush escapes from the terrorist . It was bit dramatic and slightly unbelievable, to add to this , Parvathy in her town knows that he has escaped and tells every one that her man is coming back .  

I don't have any strong points to say this is good , Let me try to give justification for Dhanush's escape. Some of you would have seen the movie "Cast Away " where Tom Hanks gets into an island and he need to get out of the island  . His only motive to live is his GF, he struggles a lot and does all sort of maths in direction and gets out of the island but when gets back to the city ( after several years)  his GF would have married some one else thinking that he was dead. After that ( in the last scene) he delivers a parcel to some one he feels lost in the middle of the city . The point when we are in love we can do any thing and when your loved one is not there , then you are nothing. 

I am considering that the director has taken this as the inspiration and plots the whole escape scene, Because its a tamil movie , the heroine flashes in the hero's imagination. 

Second about Parvathy's feeling , some times it happens to all of us . You might feel something is wrong, your gut feel says that . This scene is an exaggerated version of that feeling. 

Conclusion 

The main strength of the movie is there is no Twist or suspense in the movie, any one watching the movie can say what the next scene is still the director makes every bit of it interesting and gripping. 

I would give equal credit to both Dhanush and Parvathy , both of them has done really well . Expecting some awards for this movie this year.
